About Me

I have knitted and crocheted since I was about ten years old. I grew up watching my grandma, aunts and family friends busy crocheting. I wanted to crochet pineapple doilies like the older church ladies, but I did find this very challenging for a little girl. I did learn learn how to crochet granny squares and learned how to make an afghan. I was also very interested in knitting. My uncle’s wife was a knitter. She learned to knit at a very young age in Ireland and saw me struggling with the long needles. She showed me how she put the needle under her arm and she knitted like a machine. I began to do the same and it was much easier for me to knit on the long needles. When I was in eighth grade I spent one summer knitting a patriot afghan of red, white and blue. This was an afghan that I took to college and had in my home after I was married. After numerous moves, I am not sure what happened to that afghan. I just learned about Tunisian Crocheting in January 2011 while my aunt and cousins were in the town for a visit. After learning the simple stitch, I was on a journey to learning many other stitches that I hope to share with you during the course of this blog. I was able to use the Tunisian Crochet to make nine afghans for both baby showers and Christmas gifts. I created my own pattern for eight of them. Maybe someday I will make one for myself.

I have picked up knitting again however, my style of knitting has changed. Instead of knitting with the needle under my arm, I now knit continental style. I have found this to be much easier for me. I am enjoying knitting animals, tea cozies, afghan's, oven mitts, Minions, golf club covers, lace shawls and much more. I am continuing to increase my skill level and always want needles in my hands. I find knitting to be very relaxing and love to knit with my knitting buddies.

Happy crafting!
